Every day in Portsmouth Harbour at “Meet Your Navy” our visitors will have a thrilling close-up demonstration of a range of coordinated operational Royal Navy and Royal Marine capabilities; Royal Marines from 40 Commando RM, 539 Assault Squadron and Royal Marine Reserves will be taking part in an exciting, action packed scenario featuring a boarding demonstration of a non compliant vessel, (this is a suspect boat that is clearly up to no good and avoiding being boarded for inspection.) Royal Navy helicopters, offshore raiding craft (“ORC both the troop carrying and fire support types) a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) will be conducting an impressive series of high speed manoeuvres including using firepower in support of the demonstration

Visitors will feel the wind in their hair as they launch themselves for a once in a lifetime, charity-inspired zip wire ride across a water-filled Naval basin.  

The 250 metre long zip wire, from a 14 metre tall tower, is in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care and is sure to be one of the highlights of Meet Your Navy, the 3 day event taking place from July 25th – 27th at Portsmouth Naval Base. More...

Portsmouth FC’s FA Cup success has spelled good news for the Royal Navy’s summer spectacular in the city.
The prized trophy will be on show throughout the three days of Meet Your Navy at Portsmouth Naval Base from July 25. Visitors can have their photo taken with the cup which will be part of a display by the club’s youth academy where Pompey’s stars of the future will demonstrate their skills and techniques.

Football fans will be in for another treat as a giant replica Portsmouth FC shirt, measuring 180 ft by 120 ft, will be flown above the Meet Your Navy site.Portsmouth Naval Base Commander, Commodore David Steel, said the FA Cup would add even more glamour to Meet Your Navy. “This is fantastic news which further cements the links between the Royal Navy and Portsmouth Football club which have been in existence for many years.
“The FA Cup is one of the most famous sporting trophies and to have it as an integral part of Meet Your Navy is a huge bonus. I would like to thank Portsmouth FC for allowing their trophy to form such an important part of the event.”
Royal Navy vessels of all shapes and sizes will be open to the public during Meet Your Navy and a fleet of foreign navy ships will also be on show.
